Upcoming Road Closure information
May 2025
Get your trainers on and your game face ready – the Bromyard Round the Downs Race is sprinting back into action on Sunday 29th June, and it’s shaping up to be a front-runner for some summer fun.
Whether you’re racing for a personal best or jogging for the joy of it, this community event has something to get everyone’s heart racing. Hosted at Bromyard Rugby Club (HR7 4LW), the event features two races: a 2km junior fun run and a brand-new 10km multi-terrain race. With stunning countryside views, local food, and a welcoming community atmosphere, it’s a perfect family day out.
Open to kids aged four and over, the 2km junior run offers a safe and fun experience for children to burn off some energy and enjoy some healthy competition.
Registration opens at 9.15am for the race to begin at 10am, and entry is just £3. For this, each child receives a medal, sweets, and plenty of encouragement along the way (by DBS-checked marshals stationed throughout the route).
Please note: all children must be accompanied by an adult to the start and finish line, as this brief walk includes a stretch of road (not closed to traffic).
A brand-new addition to the 2025 line-up is a one-lap 10km course showcasing the best of Herefordshire’s countryside – from woodland trails and open fields to the panoramic Bromyard Downs.
Open to runners aged 16+, entry is £13 for UKA affiliated members or £15 for non-members. Registration opens at 9.45am for an 11am start, and all runners will be provided with a personalised bib.
With chip timing, water stations, and a homemade cake reward at the finish line, this race is a must for anyone looking for a scenic challenge. Trophies will be awarded to First Male and First Female, as well as First Local Male and First Local Female (located within a three-mile radius of Bromyard Downs).
Dash & Dine
Parking is available at Bromyard Rugby Club – but spaces are limited so car sharing is encouraged. And there’s volunteers on hand to assist with overflow if needed.
On-site food vendors, a licensed bar, and an ice cream van will be available throughout the day for both spectators and participants to enjoy a post-race snack. And all results will be published online the following day, with event photos shared via social media.
Whether you’re running for the trophy or cheering from the sidelines, Round the Downs is a feel-good community event not to be missed. Just a half hour drive from Lucksall Holiday Park, be sure to get involved in all the sprinting action before retiring back to your rural escape for some well-deserved R&R.
