September 2025
Just 20 minutes from Lucksall Holiday Park, the Waterworks Museum in Hereford offers a truly unique day out – especially during its popular Steam Days. Held fortnightly on Sundays from April to October, these dedicated events bring the museum to life with the sights, sounds, and stories from Britain’s industrial past.
Housed in a beautifully preserved Victorian water pumping station, the museum has been welcoming visitors since 1974. It once served as Hereford’s main water supply for over a century and is now home to an incredible collection of working steam engines, industrial heritage exhibits, a model railway, and a World War II display.
The entire site is wholly run by passionate volunteers, many of them former engineers, scientists, and technicians, who share their time and expertise to keep the machinery running and the history alive.
Operating Days are the best time to visit, with the engines fired up and working just as they did decades ago. From 11am to 4pm, you’ll experience the full power and noise of these magnificent machines, with guided tours available to provide fascinating insights into how they worked and why they mattered.
Remaining Operating Days of the 2025 season:
