If you fancy swapping your walking boots for wordplay, the Ledbury Poetry Festival is the perfect cultural detour during your stay at Lucksall Holiday Park.
Running from 27th June to 6th July, this is the UK’s largest celebration of poetry, bringing voices from around the world together to the charming market town of Ledbury, just a 25-minute drive from our park.
This inspiring and inclusive festival is more than just poetry readings (though you’ll find plenty of those). Expect a vibrant mix of live performances, workshops, family events, music, films, and exhibitions. Whether you’re a lifelong literature lover or just poetry-curious, there’s something in the programme for everyone.
The 10-day line-up features leading poets, emerging voices, and open mic nights that bring community creativity centre stage. You’ll find events in venues across the stunning town of Ledbury – including the Community Hall, Heritage Centre, and Burgage Hall. Or if you’re too busy relaxing at your home-from-home at Lucksall, you can tune in online with a Digital Pass (£25) for livestream access.
Planning a poetry-packed weekend? Grab a Weekend Pass for just £35, offering great value on selected events, as marked in the programme.
Book your tickets online anytime or in person at the Ledbury Poetry House Box Office (open Tues–Fri 10am to 3pm, and Sat 10am to 1pm).
And don’t forget the Ledbury Poetry Competition… Entries are open until 21st July, with a £1,000 cash prize and residential course at Arvon up for grabs!
Eager to inspire the next generation of poets and word lovers, there’s a dedicated Primary School Day, children’s authors, and interactive activities for younger visitors. Boasting a truly welcoming atmosphere, there’s an array of free events alongside ticketed sessions, making it easy to drop in and immerse yourself in the magic of the spoken word.
Ledbury has a rich poetic legacy, home to historic literary figures like Elizabeth Barrett Browning, John Masefield, and The Dymock Poets. Nestled at the foot of the Malvern Hills, the town itself feels like poetry come to life – with independent shops, galleries, cosy cafes, and timber-framed buildings at every turn.
